It’s tricky to cover every single film I’d love to at Fantastic Fest since the BMD crew has such a great team reviewing all the dozens of titles playing, but I always get a chance to cover a bunch of great ones. Movies I didn’t get to write about but loved- The Witch, Green Room, Anomalisa, and Man And Chicken, as well as the absolutely stunning rep screenins of films like Goodbye Uncle Tom and Eight Diagram Pole Fighter. This is the best film festival on the planet, and I encourage everyone to attend at some point in their life, lest you waste it utterly.
Fantastic Fest Review: ASSASSINATION CLASSROOM
“A moon-destroying alien squid teaches a bunch of students how to kill itself. Guess what country this hails from?”
Fantastic Fest Review: WHAT WE BECOME
“Do you have room for yet another zombie movie in your life?”
Fantastic Fest Review: SENSORIA
“A movie about people walking up and down stairs, Sensoria is a ghost story that doesn’t know where it’s going, or how to build tension while getting there.”
Fantastic Fest Review: MAN VS SNAKE
“Man Vs Snake feels very much like a sequel to King of Kong, especially since it involves many of the same key players.”
Fantastic Fest Review: THE GLORIOUS WORKS OF G.F. ZWAEN
“If there’s anything movies should have taught us, it’s that when you come across a bag full of money, you leave it the hell alone.”
